Tulliallan Nursery Workers

Date Added: 18 May 2020 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1948 Picture No: 4714

The photographs are courtesy of Will Anderson, Seafield and Strathspey Estates and also his father Willie Anderson/Kincardine Local History Group. Both men worked for a period with the Forestry Commission in Tulliallan Nursery and surrounding forests. This photograph and a number of others were given to Willie Anderson by Jean Stoddard (nee Gibb) whose father Jock Gibb is in some of the photographs. The photographs were placed in the Kincardine History Group archive by Willie Anderson. The year the photographs were taken is unknown but estimated roughly as between1947-1950 and 1948 has been allocated as the year.

A great shot of nursery workers relaxing and posing during their work break. Note the piece bags, flasks and jackets next to the fence between the men sitting down at the back.

Some of the men have been named as follows from the left:
? Maltman
George Smith
? McAinsh
? Rattray
John Gibb
Henry Stocks

Any further details very welcome.

Many of the Tulliallan workers were evacuees from St Kilda. They were resettled in Kincardine and given employment in the nursery. Comment left on 25 October 2020 at 22:03 by Douglas
