Buchan Forest District Harvesting Team servicing trailer

A trailer conversion devised by Forestry Commission workshops at Balnacoul which housed a workshop complete with electric generator, jointers for hydraulic hose connectors and other tools. Towards the back are tanks for diesel fuel and urea plus a lock up for oils.
In those early days the excavator mounted harvesters were not as reliable and robust as modern wheeled machines of today. Normally the district’s two excavator based thinning harvesters worked in the same area at one time and perhaps even the clearfell harvester was also not that far distant. Including for the two older Kockums forwarders, the trailer was well used in hydraulic pipe and other repairs.
