Timberliner 1012 Forwarder

Timberliner 1012 Forwarder

Date Added: 26 April 2020 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1975 Picture No: 4661

Photograph is courtesy of Jim Christie, Crook of Devon, a former senior mechanical engineer in the Forestry Commission.

The year is a vague estimate but no detail known about this machine or where it was manufactured – can anyone help?

This six narrow wheel machine does have a long chassis but whether the bunk would hold 2 lengths of three meter pulp is debatable. Note that the crane has the same name as the machine.

The attached PDF shows the machine in action from different angles and note the hand felled and neatly stacked small round wood!

This Timberliner, is one of only two I believe (the other being an eight wheel version), was manufactured in the late 1980's. The front end of the machine is from a re-modelled Massey Ferguson 50HX excavator which was produced from 1987. The machine is currently undergoing restoration.
