Forestry Memories

Knapdale Forest workers

The image has been made available with help from Janet Quarton, Cairnbaan, who worked at Knapdale for a period.

A great image of a work squad from Knapdale forest enjoying a warm late spring day and having a break from the work in hand.

The people have been named from the left as:
Neil Galbraith
Jimmy Fletcher
Edna Thom
Ray Gillies (in front)
Jock MacPhee
Davie Green

Note the large amount of iron work on the soles and toes of the boots - standard in those days for hill boots.

Any further details and other photographs of forest workers from Knapdale Forest very welcome.
