While at the centenary planting event at Monaughty Forest there was a surprise presentation by Fergus Ewing MSP on behalf of RSFS to Norman Davidson for his work on this website - Forestry Memories.

Norman responds:

“I consider this a great honour to receive this recognition from such an eminent organisation as the RSFS who indeed have an unrivalled forestry history running well on towards their second century.
It has been a great pleasure to work over the last 13 years with so many people who have willingly given their forestry photographs, stories and comments. They have all contributed to telling some of the extensive and amazing detail of Scotland’s forestry story – stories that would have in many cases gone without trace. The image or words from the timber lorry driver, the planter, the fertilising aircraft pilot, the cartographer, the saw miller, the policy maker and the finance director are all part of Scotland’s rich heritage and all deserve recognition.
This beautiful rose bowl is dedicated to every one of those who contributed to, or helped contribute to the website items. And also in memory of the late Gordon Urquhart who started and was the first website curator”.
