Martin goes on to say “This is my old pal Archie Clark who, as you know, worked in the Ardross forest squad for years and then got the job as the forest lorry driver. He started on a Forestry Commission small Bedford platform lorry transporting forest nursery plants, forest ploughs, bridge squad shuttering material and many other types of loads all over the country to Forestry Commission areas. When Jimmy Munro retired he got the Low Loader job in the Longman Workshop and had a happy time transporting forestry machinery such as tractors ploughs, Road’s machines, forwarders and vehicles for sale to many FC locations in all parts of country including England and Wales.

We had many a journey south and always had good times and laughs as we travelled and at stops and forestry destinations. Unfortunately Archie suffered some ill health and I was transferred on to the Low Loader Leyland Road Train and was on them until I retired. This was in the days of Longman Workshop Manager Mike Tolins and foreman Brian Peach. Very sadly Archie passed away a year or two back".
