In East Woodlands Nursery - Kirkhill Forest

Peter White went on to train as a forester and a two year period as a forest worker at Kirkhill Forest would have qualified him if he had the required ‘O’ levels for entry into one of the forester training schools.
Bill recalls that this area of land, part of possibly East Woodlands Farm, was donated to the Forestry Commission by the owner Mr Hay. In a corner there was a small fenced off area with a memorial stone and plaque where his wife’s ashes had been scattered.
Bill also remembers that next to the nursery was a large house which was the home of Frank Oliver, the Conservator for East Scotland.
