Canadian Forestry Corps (CFC) Company No 25 was one of eight companies based in the Deeside area as part of CFC District No 2. Records indicate the Mar Lodge camp construction began in December 1941 aided by men from Companies 2, 3, 4, 13 and 16. The team of men that formed Company No 25 (around 200 men) arrived in Deeside at the end of March, early April 1942 and no doubt began timber production shortly after.
Another view of the board sorting conveyor line with several compartments on the right for the different products. Note sure how the conveyor is controlled as no stop levers or wheels visible. On the other hand there are high ridges running parallel with the chains and the products may stop as they lift clear of the chain only to move further on when an end is lifted by hand causing the other end to hit the moving chain? The products shown here are quite a size and appear to be about 2.5 inches thick, 9 inches wide and 8-9 feet long and would be approx be 15 bfm each (Board Foot Measured in Canadian and American system).
