Canadian Forestry Corps (CFC) Company No 25 was one of eight companies based in the Deeside area as part of CFC District No 2. Records indicate the Mar Lodge camp construction began in December 1941 aided by men from Companies 2, 3, 4, 13 and 16. The team of men that formed Company No 25 arrived in Deeside at the end of March, early April 1942 and no doubt began timber production shortly after.

This first image of a series shows logs being unloaded from a lorry by two CFC men and rolled towards a logging pond. The pine logs are being hand levered off with special long poles, a task not without some considerable risks.

The sloping edge of the pond can be seen lined with timber to assist the rolling in of the logs into the water and protect the slope from damage.

Whether this is one or not, one report indicates that the trucks used were: A Ford FC 60L (stake-bed) truck - 3-ton, 158-inch wheelbase, with a 95-horsepower V8 engine.
