Donald Kennedy in Strathyre Forest Nursery
Photograph courtesy of William Fleming, Polmont who worked in Strathyre Forest as an apprentice Forest Craftsman and retrieved this image from an unknown local magazine.
Donald is seen here spraying the young Sitka spruce trees in the transplant lines. The photo caption goes on to say:
‘Donald was one of a family of 12 from Glenogle, Lochearnhead. During the war years, Donald worked with the ‘Land Girls’ (Timber Corps?) and after the war carried on working with the forestry (Forestry Commission?). He was an incredibly kind man and full of fun. Donald’s sister Mary lived in Lochearnhead.’
Any more details and also name of original photographer would be very welcome.
