Ardgartan Visitor Centre Opening
The photograph is courtesy of Glenbranter Forest office staff with particular thanks to Ian Adams who has stored these old files for many years.

This event is thought to be the opening of the Ardgartan Visitor Centre around 1998-2000. The people have been named as follows

1. Robin Kennedy ( was Argyll Forest Park Manager at the time) now retired
2. Christine Tully ( Visit Scotland)
3. P. Campbell (Visit Scotland)
4. Ian Everard FES
5. Angus Murray (District Manager) Cowal
6. Ian Forshaw (Work Role at this time before Wales?)
7. Andy Kerr – Recreation Craftsperson
8. Stephen Smith (now FE England)
9. Ian Adams (Recreation work supervisor)

Is this the former Forest Office given a new designation?

Any comments welcome.

Mmmmm?

6. Looks like the late, lamented, Ian Forshaw, but I could be wrong.
8. Stephen Smith, now at FC England, I think.
Apologies if these are incorrect.
My regards, Bill

Yes this is the former Ardgartan Office built 72/73 Robin Kennedy was originally a forest Ranger for Lochgoilhead and resided at Drumsiniebeg. He later took on the post of Argyll Forest Park Manager and retired to a place outside Portree in Skye. The late Ian Foreshaw started his career with Arkle Fraser at Rumster in Caithness as a forester. He was a graduate of Abedeen I think and later got an appointment as a forest officer.
