The photographs are courtesy of Stuart Mitchell, Peebles area, who formerly worked at Glentress Forest.

The six wheel machine in not severely bogged and it has managed to unload the poles lying beside the track covered rear wheels. This was an extremely heavy and very rugged machine which were certainly built to last but very hard on the forest floor surface, that being their great weakness. The photograph shows well the newish looking hydraulic clam grabbing arms which held the pole length material loaded by the onboard OSA crane.

Note the two skidders lining up to assist by towing the machine. Their Registration numbers are OYK 49R and RUC31R but it is proving difficult to see what type of tractor they are built on. The shades of blue point to a Ford and possibly FC built at Chapelhall Workshops.

Can anyone provide a history of these skidders and their drivers?
