Skidding above Glentress Forest Camp
The photographs are courtesy of Stuart Mitchell, Peebles area, who formerly worked at Glentress Forest.
As yet un-named Glentress skidder operator working in a Scots pine thinning site above the former camp using as the main power unit a Mercedes Highlander Unimog to drag the timber probably to the 1st quarry.
This Unimog has been especially kitted with some rollover and falling tree protection but all a bit light by today’s standards! The vehicle registration number is AMM631H and has a FC number something like 57321.
Can anyone name the driver and also know where this machine was modified and had the winches added. Unfortunately the winches are hidden. See PDF for another front view.
