Fencing squad at Glentress Forestry School
The photograph is courtesy of Shona Marshall and features one from the collection of her late father, Alex Grossert. Alex was a forestry student at Glentress Forester Training school from 1948-1950 and is seen here as part of a student squad detailed to do some fencing.
Unfortunately only the first names of the students are listed on the back of the photograph and the order is not known:
Gordon, Matt, Don and John with Dave lying in front and Alex sitting bottom right.
The photograph of the full school complement (Record No 695) taken in 1950 will show most of the students here but it is still very difficult to place names accurately against them. However the man in the very back of the group could be Donnie Laird (Don?) who was one time Head Forester at Ardross Forest.
