Ferness Forest Stock Map
Maps are courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and show the forest areas originally known as Ferness thereafter in following years as Culloden Forest.
The compartment numbers run from 1 to 31 with the planting years 1947 through to 1954 although some older Scots pine is noted with estimated planting years and probably acquired with the land. High proportion of Scots pine but larch, Lodgepole pine, Sitka and Sitka spruce species are evident. Local names of woods making up the forest are Logie, New Inn and Airdrie.
Note Forest Worker Holding in compartment No 3 – who stayed here?
