Forest of Kessock and part Kilcoy Forests

Maps are courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and show the forest areas originally Kessock and part of Kilcoy Forests according to map title inside but Kilcoy only on outside of map cover.

The map details the species and planting years from 1948 to 1951 but the latter year has had no species detail added. The compartments run from 1-83 in the northern part of the map but run again from 1 -16 in the southeast section of what may have been the original Kilcoy section planted in 1948.

Note the name Findon Nursery in compartment 20 of the Kessock Forest area – the full name is difficult to read but may refer to Findon Heathland Nursery – can anyone confirm?

The compartments with the AP legend and green wash appear to refer to areas where old planted Scots pine has been acquired with the land and have the planting years added. For example AP 03 will translate as Acquired Scots pine planted 1903.
