Assich Forest Stock Map

Date Added: 21 May 2018 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1968 Picture No: 4091

Maps are courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and show the forest area originally known as Assich just south of Croy but latterly part of Culloden Forest and then Culloden Forest District.

Possibly originally planted by the Forestry Commission in the 1940s this may have been the original Assich Forest acquisition although the compartments have been renumbered following the full survey of Culloden Forest in 1968.

Here the compartments now run from 94-123 and continue into a neighbouring map Stock Map No 3 Croy and Dalcross part of Assich Forest the images located in Record No 4092. The Planting Years span from 1940 through to 1975 the latter of which is assumed to be restocking of felled areas.

Any stories of working in this forest would be very welcome.
