With help from Ruth Robertson, Peebles, Helen has provided this image of her father Will Bruce who worked in the Forestry Commission for around forty years and was latterly a ganger in Cardrona Forest. Will and his young family initially lived in one of the houses at Eshiels and worked in Glentress Forest but moved to Plummerknowe around 1938 and started in Cardrona Forest.

Prior to working in the Forestry Commission Will Bruce had a short spell in the WW1 Timber Control department that managed the supplies of wood and felling at that critical time.

Helen recalls that when her father retired Bob Gibson was given the ganger roll and that Sandy Graham was the forester at the time.

Any more details of Cardrona Forest its workers and foresters would be very welcome.
