George Robertson at his sawmill, Eshiels, Peebles
The image, courtesy of Ruth Robertson, shows her dad working at his sawmill at Eshiels at some point around the 1970s.
Note all the squared 1st class fence posts which were the requirement for fencing grant purposes at the time. George worked at his mill next to Low Falla (Burnside) at Eshiels from around the mid 1930s up to well into the 1970s a period of 40 years serving farming communities far and wide around the Borders.
The PDF contains two more images of George at his saw benches, the full transcript of a Radio 4 interview of George Robertson by Archie Lee in 1973 and the final two pages have copies of an Appreciation and Obituary.
