Glentress Forest workers circa 1928
The image is courtesy of Ruth Roberstson, Peebles whose father is one of the workers. The year of the photograph is uncertain but could be as late as the 1930s.
Glentress forest was formed in the early years of the Forestry Commission and started about 1920 with the first planting in 1921 under the then forester David Spraggan followed by forester A Graham in 1925. The foresters at that time lived in Eshiels Cottage.
The individual people have been numbered, a few of them have been named but any further names would be very welcome.
