Blair Athol root pruner
Photograph is courtesy and copyright of Forestry Commission, Forest Research, Roslin, and provided with help from Glen Brearley. FR Photo number No A1326 taken by I A Anderson around 1953.
Difficult to see the root cutting blade but it would appear to be a general V shape with the a supporting bar leading down to and welded to the leading point of the V. The Cutting bar is adjustable over quite a wide range by the use of the uprights with adjustment holes.
The actual location of this machine is not stated. Blair Athol Estate nursery was located up past the Castle further up and possibly just across the River Tilt.
