Text reads as; ‘Extraction of poles using Border Sledge pulled by horse. Average pole shown in the slides is 1.8 h ft Sitka spruce. The average load 12-15 h ft.’

Unfortunately the sledge cannot be seen under the large load. From memory this was a small regular sledge with runners fixed to flat body base. On top of the body base was fixed a swivelling bolster which had the tie down chains attached.

Any comments and tales of working with this sledge would be very welcome.
