Spraying insecticide on Culbin Forest
Photograph is courtesy and copyright of Forestry Commission, Forest Research, Roslin, and provided with help from Glen Brearley. FR Photo number No C2734 taken by I A Anderson.
Text reads as ‘Views of aerial spraying of Culbin Forest by Pest Control Ltd, of Scots pine plantations against Pine looper moth (Bupalus piniarius) in August 1954.’
See PDF for other seven views of the fixed wing aircraft operation.
The aircraft registrations are G-AMPB and G-AMOY which apparently were two Auster J5G Autocars.
Any information on this spraying operation at Culbin Forest would be very welcome. Note in the PDF the use of long poles with balloons on the end for marking some of the flight runs.
