Helicopter spraying demonstration

Helicopter spraying demonstration

Photograph is courtesy and copyright of Forestry Commission, Forest Research, Roslin, and provided with help from Glen Brearley. FR Photo number No A1850 taken by T K Wood.

Text indicated that this was a demonstration at the machinery exhibition at Blackbushe, Edinburgh in 1958. Looking in the background there are at least 3 fix wing aircraft parked and some doubt must be expressed as to the actual location. (See the comments below as to probable location)

No company names can be seen on the helicopter but it does have two pannier tanks commonly used for spraying operations. Most likely a Bell possibly Augusta Bell 47 but experts with provide a definitive answer.

Is this not the FC exhibition at Bramshill Forest next to Blackbushe Airport, Hampshire on June 17-18th 1964, attending by the Duke of Edinburgh?

Kind regards - Steve

Thanks Steve - that is more like the actual location! Main Text has been amended. Norman Comment left on 25 November 2019 at 20:47 by Norman Davidson
Hello Norman, thanks for your reply and I’m glad I could help. I'm assuming all the June 1964 pics were taken at the same event at Blackbushe, would it be possible for me to acquire copies of them (photos or scans). Thanks - Steve Comment left on 28 November 2019 at 10:03 by Steve Purchase
