Forest of Deer - tree growth

Sitka spruce and pine growing quite well on a grass heather site. Difficult to see if the ground was ploughed or cover with turves before planting. There is a suggestion of a ridge next to camera but could be a hand dug drain. See attached PDF which shows areas growing less well and little sign of ploughing.
