This is the site now known as the "Farmstead", on the western route of the forest path that starts from the Allean car park and initially follows the main Allean block access road, the site lies to the west of the forest road. This site was excavated by Dr Margaret Stewart, a renowned local archaeologist from Perth. She insisted on all the naturally-seeded Rowan trees being removed - to the dismay of Hamish Park and other locals who felt that by upsetting the spirits of the rowans it would lead to bad luck.
Sure enough, not more than a week later, Dr Stewart was working on the site and disturbed an adder, which bit her on the back of her hand, leading to a visit to A&E.
Before returning to the site, Dr Stewart asked Hamish Park to plant rowans on the margins of the site to appease the offended spirits of the uprooted rowans.
