Teindland Forest — Experiment area
Photograph is courtesy and copyright of Forestry Commission, Forest Research, Roslin, and provided with help from Glen Brearley . FR Photo number No B3349 taken by Roger Lines.
Text reads as:
‘Fence post alongside Teindland Expt 69 which gulls have used as perch. Their droppings have killed all the Calluna for three to four feet around the base of the post which is now covered in grass vegetation’.
Apparently the gulls also roosted on the marker pegs inside the various experiments and had similar effect on the vegetation and perhaps modifying some experimental results a little!
