The image taken by I A Anderson shows Experiment No 49 P28 at Inchnacardoch Forest to compare the Belgian and shallow turf methods of establishing a forest in very difficult peat conditions. The 20 year old trees on the left are those planted on shallow turfs and on the right those on Belgian turfs.
Not sure but the latter looks a little better but this could be due to minor variations in site conditions.
