David Paterson, Edinburgh, has provided some images from written proceedings from a Banff Field Club volume which had been passed to him by a relative.

David writes:

‘This is an advisory prescription dated 11 June 1918 by P.Leslie for progressive restocking of the Town Council`s Fir Wood (`Fir Widdie` as I knew it) beside the new cemetery on the hill behind the town. He is quoted as District Advisory Forest Officer, Aberdeen and surprisingly recommends CP as restocking choice, conserving the perimeter beech fringe of first stand as shelterbelt. (I can vouch for the exposure from funeral attendances in winter at the adjacent churchyard!)’

Regarding Peter Leslie above, there is no record of that name in the Aberdeen Forestry Commission Office but he is referred to in other pages of the Banff Field Club Records as Lecturer on Forestry, Aberdeen.
