The very eminent woodland ecologist and lifelong native woodland champion was engaged by the Forestry Commission to advise them on the management of existing native woodlands such as the remnants of the Caledonian pine forests and Atlantic coast oak woods.

George is here seen with forester Sandy Walker in the Ghuibhais area of Glen Affric.

Delighted to see I'm in the memories and described as very eminent, but my name is spelled with an -en at the end. In mitigation ... when my ancestor emigrated from Lossiemouth to Portsmouth in the 17C, he used the -in spelling, so perhaps there is some excuse for a Scottish archive to use that! Hello George - also delighted that you found your image on Forestry Memories. My apologies on the name spelling which is now corrected.
If you have any interesting photographs from your Scottish forestry areas visits, those with people etc, you are welcome to contact me for possible inclusion on the website. Kind Regards - Norman
