Woodland Census of 1947 Instructions to Surveyors
Documents are courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District.
The instructions detail the procedure for the country wide census survey of the forest and woodlands of GB in 1947. This set of details focus on the survey of Forestry Commission woodlands which it seems used its own staff as surveyors. Note the samples of the white and red (pink) enumeration forms with what is assumed to be the blue carbon copy. The white form shown was also used for survey details of private woodlands. More details in previous Record no 3739
The last pages in the PDF contain the list of Code Numbers for each of the North Scottish Conservancy Forestry Commission forests and its identifiable sections. Note the increase in forest names from the 1938 Census in Record No 3738.
Any comments very welcome.
