The annual report for year ending September 1954 most likely written by District Officer Mike Long appears to now cover the individual forests areas located on the Black Isle peninsular only including Millbuie, Kilcoy Findon and Kessock. Perhaps with growing workloads here particularly in the larger nurseries new district boundaries had been assigned?

The year’s Work – comments on the year’s weather include a summary of annual rainfall at 23 inches, warm spring with showers until end of May when summer turned overcast and ‘heavy’. The weather was so poor that the bees had to exist on honey collected earlier in the season. And there were no fires! The 60 foot fire tower on Mount Eagle was again used for the second season since the telephone system had been set up.
Damage by Capercaillie again and Blackcock also noted on seed beds and their numbers increasing.
