Well of Seven Heads near Glengarry Forest
The photographs are courtesy of Mayanne Macgregor and her father Rory Macgregor who worked at Inchnacardoch Forest for two years around 1958.
Jackie Dunn a Forestry Commission man is reading the inscription on the monument written in several languages depicting a horrendous reprisal against seven members of a Macdonald family who were killed some considerable time after they had killed two of their cousins.
Of interest also are the buildings – a collection of huts – shown behind Jackie on the piece of flat ground between the main road and Loch Oich. Is this a forestry wartime felling or hydro camp?

At this time these huts were part of a sawmill site operated by John Gordon of Nairn

The site was a sawmill and the huts housed the workers, it was like a small village and was nicknamed Boomtown.It is now a Forestry Commission picnic site.
