Benmore Forestry students practical lesson
This one of a set of images from photocopier scans and is courtesy of the staff at Glenbranter Forest Office.
Little was known of the details of people apart from a couple of names written on one of the images but one former student Bob Boyd has been tracked down to Northern Ireland and has provided the following information:
‘The photo shows a practical botany lesson led by lecturer Roddy MacDonald.
From the left;
Bob Boyd,
Maurice Clements with his back to the camera,
Fred Carty glancing back at camera,
Roddy MacDonald in middle of group.
Andy Orr with right arm raised,
Bill Mason facing the camera over Andy's right shoulder
Walter McCloskey on right of photo and detached from the group.’
Obviously early spring as the broadleaved tree is just showing first leaves or if an elm tree, the winged seed. Behind is the familiar outline of Benmore House.
