Benmore Forestry students above Benmore Gardens

This one of a set of images from photocopier scans and is courtesy of the staff at Glenbranter Forest Office. The photocopy has survived looking like a painterly masterpiece and gives the impression of a beautiful calm, warm midge free morning overlooking a spectacular highland scene.

Little was known of the details of people apart from a couple of names written on one of the images but one former student Bob Boyd has been tracked down to Northern Ireland and has provided the following information:

‘The planting photo is indeed picture like and typical of many Scottish highland paintings. The location is quite high up on the hillside above the old Uig nursery most likely up the Inverchapel Burn. I do remember planting there in my first year at Benmore, probably during the early months of 1959. The students are named from the left:
Bob Boyd (seated wearing a cap)
Ian Reid,
Bob Cuthbertson
Brian Pedder (Standing up with spade)
Maurice Clements (seated to the right)

I am not sure about the person standing up and leaning on the spade but I think it might be Brian Pedder. We are all 1958/60 students.’
