Wooden Frame saw from about 1930
The saw is courtesy of Ian Adams of Glenbranter Forest Office who has collected a considerable amount of old forestry tools.
This lovely shaped and crafted frame designed to hold a peg tooth narrow saw blade for cross cutting work is tensioned by the use of a rigging turnbuckle screws.
One assumes this was used in days before the tensioned steel tubular frame became the norm. The writer has not seen one being used in the forest as has placed a date of 1930 on its manufacture.
Can anyone recall this type of saw being used in a forest or elsewhere for that matter?
