Jimmy Munro and low loader in Skye

Date Added: 17 April 2017 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1986 Picture No: 3669

Photograph is courtesy of Margaret Murray, daughter of Jimmy Munro who is seen with his machine. There is no information with this photograph and year is a guess based on Registration Number which may be prefixed with the letter ‘A’. The FC Number of the lorry reads as 59072 and will confirm the year it was purchased and also the lorry make.

This may have been one of Jimmy’s last jobs before he retired in 1986 following a long service in the Forestry Commission where he transferred to from working in the wartime Timber Supply Dept.

The PDF gives a wider view of the area in Skye and there is a sign post pointing down to Kylerhea which places the quarry and forest location at its junction with the Broadford road.

The PDF shows the wider view of the area.

The lorry is an ERF, it is a "C" series model. These were manufactured between 1981 and 1986. Comment left on 23 April 2017 at 12:09 by John Macdonald
