Date Added: 17 April 2017 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1963 Picture No: 3667

Photograph is courtesy of Margaret Murray, daughter of Jimmy Munro who is seen with his machine. There is no information with this photograph and year is a guess.

Jimmy Munro (with back to lorry) getting the details of where exactly the machine has to be dropped off after bringing it up from South Laggan. He is met by what may be part of the Roads Team working in that area. The man with note book could well be the ganger or foreman. Does anyone recognise the three men and also the forest location? Is that a Ford Thames van behind?

The attached PDF shows the low loader and its load in the forest and what could be coils of wire rope for the excavator lying on the road.

See Record Nos 3665 and 3666 to see other parts of this journey. The Priestman excavator has registration Number 775ELM

Martin Mackenzie, Balloch, has indicated that the man next to Jimmy is Jackie Mackenzie a lorry driver from Invermoriston, the next man is Chick (Glaster) Macdonald, rock drill operator, from Invergarry area and the third man is someone called Dan (surname not remembered)also a rock drill operator from Nairn area.
