Priestman Lion III ready for transport
Photograph is courtesy of Margaret Murray, daughter of Jimmy Munro who is seen with his machine. There is no information with this photograph and year is a guess.
The Priestman Lion Registration Number 775 ELM is sitting waiting beside a car park view point at the north end of Loch Lochy (part of South Laggan Forest). On the opposite side of the loch is what was known as Glengarry Forest that joined onto Clunes Forest further down the loch.
The operator’s car (black) and caravan is behind the excavator ready to travel with the machine when loaded on Jimmy’s low loader.
Can anyone say who the operator was and what would be the gross weight of this machine? Information form Martin Mackenzie, Balloch, is that Jockie Wilson from Fort Augustus was the operator at this time. Some time later he was promoted to Foreman and certainly headed the roads team at Corrour in 1968.
