Ferness Forest Clearing snow

Date Added: 22 March 2017 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1959 Picture No: 3640

Photograph courtesy of Sandy Gordon, Black Isle, whose father James Gordon was a long service forester in the Forestry Commission.

The year is thought to be about 1959 or 1960 and following a heavy snow fall there is the usual jobs of clearing those tracks and roads which allow some movement around the central houses, office and sheds. Work out in the forest is usually at a standstill as no one can get to the work sites and the sites are deeply buried in snow anyway.
