Photograph courtesy of Sandy Gordon, Forres area, whose father James Gordon was a long service forester in the Forestry Commission.

Jessie, whose husband was James Gordon and forester at Findon Forest in the Black Isle before and during WWII, worked in the forestry nursery thought to be Findon Nursery. At this period, in war time conditions, labour to work in the forest and the nursery would have been very scarce and employing women and older children may have been the only way to grow the young trees for and to achieve any planting programmes.

Here Jessie Gordon is on the left sitting with an unidentified lady. The two young lads have been named as Don Dingwall and Geordie Maclean (on the right) who in later years drove dozers and other machines in the Forestry Commission Roads section.

Any information on the unnamed lady and Don Dingwall would be very welcome.

I think this is the Donnie Dingwall who drove ploughing tractors for many years and lived at Torview Contin Comment left on 23 March 2017 at 12:32 by Frank Thom
