This version of a planting map appears to be work in progress as compartments and their numbers are added to the hand drawn map of the forest section in Kiltarlity Parish. The compartment numbers start at No 1.

The R1 planting record shown in the attached PDF indicates the planting started in compartments 1-5 in 1950 and around 100 acres planted with various species of trees from quite a wide area of forest nurseries including Findon (Blackisle), Tulliallan (Fife), Inchnacardoch and South Laggan (Great Glen), Dornoch and also Pitfichie (Aberdeenshire).

The names of any foresters and forest workers who worked in the forest would be very welcome.

I found this birth and the father, Alex, appears to be employed as/at Battan[illegible]

Perhaps "Battanmary" wasn't intended to indicate a profession but is a more detailled description of place of residence. Comment left on 27 February 2019 at 19:01 by Pat
