Collecting Mountain Woodland samples
Rob Souter, former District Manager of Galloway Forest Park, describes the process of creating a Mountain Woodland project in the upper elevations of Galloway Forest Park and the work of volunteers to map existing native mountain species, collect samples and produce planting stock for new high elevation woodlands. The photograph shows Ian Murgatroyd in the process of collecting cuttings from native trees and shrubs growing on a high, exposed rock face on Craiglee.
Rob also mentions the roles of Action for Mountain Woodland, the Montane Scrub Action groups and the many volunteers such as Richard Mearns, Peter Norman and Ian Murgatroyd.
