Sleepers at Aberdeen Harbour

Early photograph taken in 1916 from a forestry album of 117 photographs compiled by an unknown Forestry Commission officer.

This impressive pile of railway sleepers awaiting shipment from Aberdeen docks gives some impression of the volume of timber products leaving northeast Scotland at that time.

Note the gas lights have been completely surrounded by the double bank of sleepers.
