Dawyck Estate
Early photograph taken 1931 from a forestry album of 117 photographs compiled by an unknown Forestry Commission officer.
No information other that the name Dawyck suggesting that this is a view of Dawyck estate or policy grounds the seat of the Balfour family since 1897. The family gifted the gardens of Dawyck (near Stobo) to the nation in 1978 after which it passed into the care the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh.
The website indicates that there is a long history of tree planting going back 300 years resulting in many large and very old specimen trees.
