Willie Bell (with Hard hat on - skidder driver) and Willie Smeaton (at the crane)from Fort Augustus Forest District stopping to have a look at an old version of a crane thought to belong to Munro Sawmills, Dingwall.
Note the old crown logo on the FC Van all parked next to the vitrified fort at Auchterawe.
Can anyone say what the crane vehicle combination is likely to be?
See PDF for another view of the crane vehicle Registration Number HJS847P.

The base vehicle for the crane lorry is an ex British Army, AEC Militant, 6x6 wheeled lorry that probably was a flatbed/platform lorry, before its conversion. The same lorry chassis/cab combination was also supplied as a "wrecker" to the British Army, but the design of the crane was very different from the one shown in these images!
