Contour felling Glen Nevis Forest

Possibly a demonstration of contour felling a strategy that was taking off at this time for working on steep slopes and presenting material for cable crane working. Note the high cut trees which act as stoppers to prevent the logs rolling down hill.

This site is in Glen Nevis Forest part of Lochaber Forest District where the timber is being presented for extraction by an Igland 8000 cable crane seen in the background.
