Massey Ferguson Nursery tractor

‘This MF 135 was sold new to D. Meldrum & Sons, Prior Road Nurseries, Forfar, in 1968 and was fitted with a reduction gearbox for operating transplanting machines. The extra gearbox makes it almost six inches longer than the normal 135 but it is the same length as the MF 148 which has an empty spacer for extra stability. This enabled this one to be originally fitted with a Weather Shields cab designed for the 148.

The MF tractor moved on to Meldrum's Maxwell Street Nursery in Dumfries until Tom Meldrum retired when it was acquired by Frank Nicol who was the young salesman with Reekie, Forfar, that sold it to the Meldrums in 1968. Frank, now in Dingwall, restored it and fitted a MF 148 Duncan cab which sits about six inches forward and has a longer lower door panel than the normal 135 cab.’

I remember this tractor. I was at school and planting trees in planter pulled by this tractor. We had a squad of 5 with someone getting a rest every time a run was completed.
