Timbermaster in Glenurquhart Forest

The Forestry Commission winch is working above Loch Meikle in Glenurquhart Forest operated by the Scott brother’s from Grantown area who were working on contract. Some of them currently work with Calum Duffy.
At this time they had previously worked in the oil industry but following the oil slump they hired the winch and tractor from the Forestry Commission Longman Workshop and set up business extracting timber. The Timbermaster had a system of locking carriage and multi chokers (Fleming Hooks) with auto unchoker when the load was dropped over the carriage trip.
The image in the PDF shows the full length trees (Douglas fir) in the length felled and sned by Duncan Grant (Forestry Commission) with the some trees left to act as support and anchor trees for the cable crane. One of the Scott brothers cross cut the trees into timber products when they were hauled to road side by his winch operator brothers. Willie Zuckart (Forestry Commission) operating the Highland Bear lifted the pruducts from the winch and stacked them further down the roadside.
