Forest work site near Fort Augustus
Photograph is courtesy of John Ireland, who is currently based at Lochaber Forest District.
John Ireland comments: ‘This is at Fort Augustus, Auchterawe (near the old sanatorium) a standard work site around 1987 with timber probably going to Gordon’s of Nairn and BSW.
Willie Bell is standing with the saw ready to cross cut the logs while Dougie MacDonald pulls the logs in with the Timberjack. Willie Zuckert is working the Highland bear picking up and stacking the wood products as they are crosscut.’

Would that have been Willie Zuckert jr as Willie Zuckert Sr was the ganger at Boblainy? My late father was John Chree forester at Gleurquart/Boblainy - Retired1985.
